The release of information under the "Freedom of Information" Act is limited to blotter information. The act specifically prohibits the release of information that would:

  • Interfere with a law enforcement investigation or judicial proceeding
  • Deprive a person of a right to a fair trial or impartial adjudication
  • Identify a confidential source or disclose confidential information relating to a criminal investigation, or reveal special criminal investigation techniques and procedures
  • Endanger the life and safety of any person
  • Result in an unwarranted invasion of personal privacy

Requests for information under the "Freedom of Information" Act may be made in person by completing a request form found here or from the Town Clerk's Office.

After the request has been submitted, you will be contacted within five business days advising you of the availability of the information, and if it is available, approximately how long it will take to produce. If the information request is denied, the reasons for the denial and the appeals process you are entitled to follow, will be given to you in writing. You may appeal the denial within thirty days of receiving it. Appeals are made to the Town Clerk's Office. Any reports approved for release will have the names of the involved individuals covered.
